Team Surgical Relief will travel in April to Ghana for the second year, building on their work at Holy Family Hospital in Techiman. The team will provide free surgical care to patients who otherwise would not have access to these needed services, as well as teach and train local medical personnel to ensure that they may continue to provide needed care once the mission is completed.
Team Surgical Relief's 2024 team will consist of four general surgeons, two head and neck surgeons, three certified nurse anesthetists, three surgical nurses/technologists, as well as other support staff. The team anticipates performing 100 or more operations during the week, including hernia repairs in children and adults, removal of large thyroid tumors, as well as additional general surgical and plastic surgery procedures. Through the support and generosity of those who have contributed to Operation International, Team Surgical Relief will be able to restore these patients to health and, in many cases, treat disfiguring conditions that affect their ability to function in society.
