Operation International Gap Year Intern Program (9-12 Months)

I. Program Overview

  • Title: Gap Year Intern
  • Duration: 9 to 12 months
  • Department: Operations and Strategy, supporting various teams (e.g., Team Indiana Heart) and organizational leaders.
  • Role Focus: Primarily administrative and logistical support, with a strong emphasis on digital media and mission preparation.
  • Compensation Structure: Two paid mission trips are provided, covering travel and accommodation for the intern, with a monthly stipend.
  • Letter or Recommendation/Endorsement: Professional letter of recommendation and endorsement for future endeavours

II. Core Responsibilities (Administrative & Logistics)The intern will play a key administrative role in supporting the efficiency and outreach of Operation International:

  • Mission Logistics Support: Assist with the logistical coordination for mission trips, including communication with team leaders and external partners.
  • Digital and Social Media Management: Support the organization's social media presence to enhance engagement and communication.
  • Event Support: Provide administrative assistance for key organizational events, such as the annual gala.
  • Data and Patient Management: Help the clinical team by inputting patient information into the necessary application and gathering patient photos prior to the arrival.
  • General Administrative Duties: Complete tasks as assigned to assist the Chief of Operations and Strategy and Chief Executive Officer, and other team leaders.

III. Learning and Development

  • Mission Experience: Participate in two mission trips, providing hands-on experience with international medical operations and field logistics.
  • Mentorship: Receive mentorship from the Chief Executive Officer/Chief of Operations and Strategy and other senior team members.
  • Skill Development: Develop professional skills in nonprofit administration, global health logistics, event planning, and digital communication.

IV. Program Goals

  • For the Intern: Provide a comprehensive gap year experience that builds skills in global health and nonprofit management, while contributing to the organization's mission.
  • For the Organization: Maintain momentum on various work group initiatives and streamline administrative tasks to ensure successful mission execution.
