Many team members on Team Cleft Repair have extensive experience in their specialty and numerous medical mission experience worldwide. Several original team members are Vietnamese expatriates who made it their mission to bring reconstructive surgeons and expertise to Vietnam.
The team's inaugural mission took place at Hue Hospital University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Vietnam in 2023. Collaborating with the Design Capital Asia organization, the team focused on providing essential medical care to children born with cleft lips and palates. In just five days, they performed an impressive 40 surgeries. In 2024, the team returned to Hue to serve another 39 patients, many of whom were returning from the previous year. It was rewarding to see how well they had thrived since their initial surgeries.
In 2025, we are expanding our team to Laos, bringing our dedication and care to help children with cleft lip and palate deformities beyond the borders of Vietnam.
