In its 2024 mission, Team Cleft Repair performed 39 surgeries in five days. The mission also included a donation of essential medical equipment to the local hospital, two training sessions, and the start of a nursing education initiative.
Cleft Repair was established in March of 2023. The team is made up of dedicated group of doctors and nurses who are passionate about treating children born with cleft lip/palate.
In 2024, the trainings at Hue Hospital included a comprehensive lecture on cleft and palate care and a Q&A session for the local anesthesiology residents. The nursing initiative is led by nurse educator Lam K Trần, who dedicated the week to education seminars on wound care, rapid response, and performing a thorough needs assessment for future nursing education programs.
