Mission Goals

This is the first mission done in cooperation with a local NGO, FundaMed, which proved to be capable and trustworthy organization.
The first day of the mission, and as the team was setting up the operating room, a pregnant young women arrived in distress with severe eclampsia that she was within minutes of losing her life.
The team was able to stabilize her and performed a C-section saving both the mother and baby’s lives.
The team took that opportunity to teach local doctors and nurses on managing patients in distress and on many aspects of modern surgery that they were unable to perform.

Mission details

In 2001 Team NY set off to Brazil for their fourth ever mission. After seeing the need for medical care, our team returned to Brazil 2 years later.
