The Women’s Health Team completed a successful first mission as a dedicated team with Operation International. The volunteers finished an impressive 63 procedures during just one week in Ghana, including myomectomies, hysterectomies, laparoscopic procedures, and general surgery.
The Women's Health Team was established in 2023 by Dr. Vito Alamia Jr. Dr. Alamia has been a member of Team NY for over 20 years, and is a board member of Operation International. In their first mission, highlights included removing a 15 pound tumor from an 8 year old girl. The youngest patient seen during the mission was 11 months old and the eldest was 85 years old.
