Mission Goals

This was the maiden mission for Team Surgical Relief and it took place in Rakai, Uganda, one of the well-developed bases of Operation International.
Having served that area with several teams before, once the word of another team arriving spread around hundreds of patients converged on the hospital.
The team performed wide variety of surgical procedures ranging from operations on newborn to operations on old patients with advanced cancer.
The donated supplies and equipment that the team brought along will help local doctors to serve their patients better.

Surgical Relief

Mission details

For their maiden mission, Team Hong Kong traveled to Myanmar in February 2019. The members, routinely perform ophthalmological surgery, oculoplastic surgery, and fascial reconstructive surgery. In their first mission the team restored eyesight to over 200 patients, corrected congenital facial deformities to 14 patients and performed many other complex reconstructive operations.
