Dr. Cowan completed his neurosurgery residency at Medical College of Georgia in 1999. He worked from 1999-2024 as a practicing partner at Carolina Neurosurgery and Spine Associates with a specialty interest in minimally invasive spine surgery. Currently, he works independently performing locum tenens neurosurgical coverage at hospitals in Arkansas, Colorado and South Carolina. Dr. Cowan was a member of the 2025 Ghana neurosurgical team and is excited to return in 2026.
