Hi everyone, my name is Tram. I have been working in a cardiac Progressive Care Unit and Telemetry Unit for the past 3.5 years at a Level I trauma hospital. My unit also specializes in caring for patients with pulmonary hypertension. Growing up in Vietnam, a developing country, I saw how many people viewed illness not only as a financial burden on their families, but also as a punishment tied to bad karma. This belief often caused both patients and their caregivers to feel hopeless, ashamed, and emotionally isolated. My own family experienced these struggles firsthand. When I moved to the United States, my perspective on healthcare completely changed. I witnessed patients receiving treatment regardless of their financial situation or insurance status. I also learned about clinics and organizations supported solely through donations, where patients could focus on healing instead of worrying about medical bills. These experiences inspired me to pursue a career in healthcare. In addition to volunteering in my community, I have always longed to give back by using my knowledge and skills to support people in Vietnam and other developing countries. Through a medical mission trip, I hope to help relieve even a small part of the difficulties patients face and remind them that there is always hope, compassion, and support available.
